Did You Fasten The Belt Of Truth?
My husband and I recently had the privilege to go see “Wonder Woman 1984” for a date night. Yes, in a movie theater, seats reserved online, and our nearest neighbor was four seats away.
Without giving away much of the film, I’m sure most people are aware of Wonder Woman’s golden lasso of truth. She keeps it securely attached at her waist. The golden lasso of truth is not only known for making her enemies tell the truth, but it also makes people see the truth.
In the Bible, believers are instructed to put on an even more powerful piece of equipment around our waists. We are instructed to “stand our ground, putting on the belt of truth” (Eph. 6:14).
The only way to know truth and to diligently keep it fastened around our waists is to go the source- Jesus.
We must actively be in God’s Word. We must stay diligent in prayer. And we must continue to ask for discernment from the Lord. It’s only by seeking truth that we can defeat the lies of our enemy, the devil.
Lies often sound like the truth. The devil himself thrives on half-truths (Genesis 3). Staying in God’s Word is pertinent (John 17:17). We cannot fend off the attacks of our enemy if we don’t know the truth. That is why putting on the belt of truth is the first piece of equipment listed to fend off our enemy. We will be easily swayed by the “logic” of a sweet-sounding lie when we aren’t standing firm in the Truth and have it tightly fastened around our waists.
Our Father in Heaven is so set apart from lies and deceit that He has no place for these things in His Kingdom. He will not tolerate them.
As defenders and fighters for the Kingdom, are we fastening on the belt of truth? Are we believing Jesus is the source of truth, or are we being led astray? Who are we listening to? What are we watching? What voices are in our heads? How often are we reading God’s Word? How often are we seeking the Holy Spirit? How often do we pray?
We need to be reminded that WE ARE warriors in the faith, not battling flesh and blood; we are battling the unseen dark forces in this world and forces of evil in the spiritual realm (Ephesians 6:12). If we are not in a relationship and seeking the Source of Truth, how easy it will be to be led astray by lies.
And since I am telling you the truth, why don’t you believe me? Anyone who belongs to God listens gladly to the words of God. But you don’t listen because you don’t belong to God.
John 6:46-47
Church, stay alert! Seek the Lord. Be persistent in prayer (Ephesians 6:18). Actively be in the Word of Truth.
Ultimate freedom and victory is found only in The Truth.
May we fasten our belts of truth and courageously put on the full armor of God.
The battle is at hand.
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will be still standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for believers everywhere.
Ephesians 6:10-18
“We must actively be in God’s Word. We must stay diligent in prayer. And we must continue to ask for discernment from the Lord. It’s only by seeking truth that we can defeat the lies of our enemy, the devil”.
If one was looking for a ‘survival formula’ for the day in which we live, this is it. Hands down one of the most powerful truths I’ve read in some time. Thank you for this uplifting and encouraging post.
Thank you, Ron. I appreciate your encouraging comment.
The Holy Spirit continues to help me stay on fire for Jesus in these strange days of confusion. May we continue to encourage our brothers & sisters in Christ by sharing the Truth!
Amen, Amber! Thank you for this encouragement and TRUTH!! So, so true in a time where lies and half-truths are being passed off as the truth at record speeds . . . We must keep our eyes, heart and mind on our Lord and Savior and his word above all else and put on the full armor of God! Blessings to you! Miss you!
Thank you, Debbie. Yes, we do! Praying we stay firm in the faith! Thanks for your comment ❤
